Only three months have passed since our first newsletter but a lot of things have occurred in the meantime.

Firstly we all witnessed the Conservative Party claiming an outright majority to form a new government at the recent General Election, which has a significant impact on both the Education and Social Work sectors.
The Tories have a clear development plan regarding Education, outlining their strategy to create a further 500 free schools by 2020 and to provide immediate support to help turn around failing schools.
 

There is perhaps a less bright scenario in the Social Work industry, with cuts to some Social Care budgets planned over the next 5 years. It is not however all bad news as there is a continued commitment to providing robust frontline services for both Children and Adult Services.

As a consequence of that the professionals that will suffer the most from the budget cuts are the Qualified Social Workers with permanent contracts. Chances that some of their rights will be denied are really high, according to the political Conservative manifesto.
 

Here at Tempest Resourcing we are already registering an increase in demand for locum QSW posts with the market seemingly busier than it has ever been since pre-recession times. Interestingly we are also seeing an increase in the number of permanent workers willing to tender their resignations and make the move into locum positions.

The benefits of locum work absolutely still exist, mainly the offer of more flexibility, the higher rates of pay and not to mention the greater work/life balance available. Tempest are also looking at options to get training programs for our long term locums, as we want them to see a long term career with us.
 

Regardless of whether our candidates are working on a temporary or permanent basis, either in Social Work or Education, Tempest Resourcing will always guarantee them a driven approach and a commitment to excellence in the provision of recruitment services. It just leaves me to remind everyone that as summer is finally approaching it brings us to that time of year for our traditional QSW Summer Party. For 2015 the party has moved to a unique venue, The Tattershall Castle, a 209ft floating bar on the River Thames. With its fantastic views of some of London's most famous landmarks plus the chance to network with over 150 other professionals it should be a great evening. We're looking forward to meeting our candidates there to thanking each and every single one for their continued support and the amazing job they do for our clients and representing Tempest Resourcing.
