Our Anti-Slavery Policy
Introduction
The term ‘Modern slavery’ relates to slavery, forced labour and human trafficking. Tempest Resourcing has a zero-tolerance approach to any form of slavery in all business and personal dealings. Tempest is committed to the prevention of slavery and human trafficking in all its forms and will not condone it in any part of the business or end user client sites. We are dedicated to working with integrity, transparency and acting ethically as well as putting effective processes and controls in place to safeguard against any form of modern slavery.
Due to the type of work being carried out and the type of labour, permanent/ agency migrant workers tend to be at higher risk because they are more likely to lack support networks.
Organisational Structure, Business and Supply chains
Tempest Resourcing operate in the UK only and provide temporary and permanent staffing solutions to Social Work and Education Sectors. Whether we’re providing skilled staff to cover maternity, illness, to boost a workforce or for the completion of a short-term project, as we provide to the Social Care Sector, we will ensure that we safeguard our candidates and direct recipients of the care our staff provide.
Our Policies in Relation to Slavery and Human Trafficking
Tempest Resourcing adheres to several internal policies that support our commitment to ethical and transparent business operations. These include:
- Modern Slavery Statement – Outlines our zero-tolerance stance on slavery and human trafficking.
- Whistleblowing Policy – Encourages employees to report any concerns about unethical practices, including modern slavery.
- Quality Assurance Policy – Ensures our processes meet high ethical and operational standards.
- Corporate Social Responsibility Policy – Highlights our dedication to ethical practices and community well-being.
- Environmental Policy – Reflects our commitment to sustainable practices
- Health & Safety Policy – Ensures the well-being of our employees and candidates.
We regularly review and update these policies to reflect evolving best practices and legal requirements.
Due Diligence Processes
We consider our business to be a ‘low risk’ business in terms of modern slavery and human trafficking. We adhere to stringent ethical recruitment practices, underscored by its Modern Slavery Statement and Anti-Slavery Policy, reinforcing its commitment to preventing exploitation and maintaining transparent operations within its business and supply chain network. Our recruitment process includes extensive vetting and thorough background and compliance checks to source, retain, and support quality workers.
Our Performance Indicators
We will know the effectiveness of the steps and policies we have put in place to ensure that human trafficking/ slavery is not taking place at all within the business or end user clients if:
- We receive no reports from employees, the public, clients directly or law enforcement agencies
- Any concerns from candidates about themselves or anyone operating in the end user site
Training
Staff are trained to recognise modern slavery signs through ongoing training as part of their accredited training programme, which includes awareness sessions. Refresher training is mandatory annually to ensure up-to-date knowledge and adherence to anti-slavery policies.
