Advanced Practitioner - Children in Our Care | Gateshead

Our client, Gateshead Council, is seeking an experienced Social Work Practice Supervisor to support high-quality practice and decision-making across Children's Social Care.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Children's Social Work professional with strong practice leadership, safeguarding, assessment, and case management experience. The ideal candidate will be committed to reflective practice, multi-agency working, continuous improvement, and achieving positive outcomes for children, young people, and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the supervision, practice, and decision-making of Social Work practitioners, ensuring high standards of practice and compliance with legislation, policies, and professional frameworks.
  • Manage a complex caseload of Children in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children, acting as the lead professional where appropriate.
  • Complete skilled assessments and deliver purposeful, timely interventions that safeguard children and promote their welfare.
  • Develop, implement, and review evidence-based care and pathway plans that reflect the best interests of the child.
  • Ensure children, young people, and families are actively involved in assessments, planning, reviews, and decision-making.
  • Promote the safety, health, wellbeing, and education of children in care and support young people to achieve their aspirations.
  • Provide intensive support and interventions to children and families, helping to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.
  • Develop effective multi-agency and multi-disciplinary partnerships with specialist services, Family Hubs, schools, and other professionals.
  • Support quality assurance and performance improvement by ensuring case records, assessments, and reports are accurate, timely, and demonstrate the voice and journey of the child.
  • Work within the Council's scheme of delegation and authorisation, ensuring appropriate recommendations and decisions are escalated where required.
  • Contribute to service improvement, professional learning, and the development of high-quality social work practice.
  • Maintain professional standards through supervision, training, continuing professional development, and registration requirements.
