Tempest Resourcing are currently recruiting for a compassionate and proactive ASD Support Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in South London. This role involves working with pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), supporting both non-verbal and verbal students across primary or secondary settings.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about SEN who are looking to build long-term experience in a specialist or mainstream school environment.
🔎 The Role:
Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASD
Supporting both non-verbal students (using PECS, Makaton or alternative communication methods) and verbal students with social communication needs
Implementing EHCP targets and behaviour support strategies
Assisting with sensory regulation and structured routines
Promoting independence, engagement and emotional wellbeing
Working closely with the SENCO, class teachers and therapists
✅ The Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with children or young people with ASD (school, care, youth work or voluntary settings)
Understanding of autism, sensory needs and communication differences
Calm, patient and consistent approach
Team player with strong interpersonal skills
Psychology, Education or Health & Social Care background desirable (not essential)
