About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive secondary school in the Slough/Hounslow area. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting students with behavioural challenges, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students, staff, and parents to implement personalised strategies that promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being. This role is perfect for individuals with a passion for supporting young people and making a difference in their educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and group support for students with behavioural needs.
- Develop and implement behaviour management strategies to support positive student outcomes.
- Build positive relationships with students, acting as a role model and mentor.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and pastoral staff to support individual learning plans.
- Promote positive behaviour through restorative approaches and interventions.
- Monitor student progress, providing feedback and guidance to help them achieve their targets.
- Support students in developing social skills, self-regulation, and emotional resilience.
- Engage with parents and carers to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
Candidate Profile:
We are looking for a Behaviour Mentor who:
- Has experience working with young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH, or SEN needs.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is proactive, patient, and able to build strong relationships with students.
- Has a positive and resilient attitude towards supporting students in overcoming barriers to learning.
- Is confident in delivering small group or one-to-one interventions.
- Understands safeguarding and child protection principles (training provided if needed).
- Previous experience in education, youth work, or mentoring would be advantageous.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience in SEN support at a single institute or a varied background across multiple SEN schools providing LSA support.
- Experience supporting families of children with special educational needs would be highly valued.
- Ability to adapt to different school environments with confidence and professionalism.
