Our client, the Royal Borough of Greenwich, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Social Worker to join their Assessment team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled practitioner to work within a supportive environment, delivering high-quality services that safeguard and improve outcomes for children, young people, and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake high-quality assessments, planning, reviews, and case management activities in line with legal, regulatory, and professional practice standards, including statutory guidance relating to safeguarding, looked after children, fostering, adoption, private fostering, and services for disabled children.
- Conduct specialist assessments in complex and high-risk cases, ensuring that children and families receive timely and effective interventions.
- Apply professional expertise to review learning from cases, including complaints and practice concerns, identifying opportunities for service improvement and implementing best practice across the team.
- Make informed and balanced professional judgements regarding children's needs, parenting capacity, family circumstances, environmental factors, risks, and protective factors, ensuring that resources are used effectively to achieve the best outcomes.
- Lead and promote effective multi-agency working, providing support and constructive challenge to partner agencies while evaluating the impact of interventions on children's well-being and life chances.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and present expert evidence to Panels and Courts, supporting decision-making processes that ensure children have safe and secure childhoods.
- Develop specialist knowledge in key areas of social work practice and use this expertise to enhance service delivery across the wider team.
- Champion the participation of children, young people, and families in shaping and improving the services they receive.
- Take a leading role in workforce development, mentoring colleagues, supporting professional learning, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the organisation.
- Model best practice in information sharing, ensuring compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and safeguarding requirements.
- Maintain effective communication with children, families, and partner professionals, keeping all parties informed of case progress and social care involvement.
- Promote and support access to independent advocacy services for children and young people and contribute to the evaluation of advocacy provision.
