Our client in North Somerset Council is looking for a Social Worker to work with children and young people in care, undertaking assessments, care planning and therapeutic interventions to achieve positive long-term outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an allocated caseload of children and young people in care, particularly those whose care plans are for long-term care.
- Undertake the full range of social work activities, including assessment, planning, intervention and review.
- Complete individual care planning and ensure plans are regularly reviewed in line with professional standards.
- Undertake direct work with children, young people, families and carers, using trauma-informed practice and therapeutic interventions.
- Deliver a range of interventions, including family work, group work, parenting support and solution-focused approaches.
- Act as the lead professional and key worker for statutory cases, including children looked after and children returning to their families.
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies and coordinate multi-disciplinary approaches for children subject to safeguarding plans, care proceedings or accommodation.
- Ensure children, young people, parents and carers are listened to, treated with respect and their views are reflected throughout assessment, planning, intervention and decision-making.
- Apply evidence-based practice and maintain a strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records using the Council's electronic case recording and reporting systems.
- Participate in professional supervision, appraisal and ongoing post-qualifying training to continuously develop knowledge, skills and practice.
- Contribute positively to team working, team meetings and service development activities.
- Work in accordance with statutory requirements, Social Work England professional standards and the Council's equal opportunities policy.
