Our client in Cornwall Council is looking for a Social Worker to provide social work services to vulnerable children, young people and families, with responsibility for allocated cases and supporting positive permanence outcomes for children.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide effective social work services to vulnerable children, families and resource providers, as directed by the line or senior manager.
- Act as the Primary Worker with case responsibility for Children in Need, Looked After Children and, where appropriate, children in need of protection.
- Contribute to the protection of children from harm through the assessment of risk and delivery of appropriate support services.
- Undertake comprehensive assessments of prospective foster carers and adopters where working within Foster Care or Adoption Services.
- Complete Children in Need and family assessments in line with Department of Health guidance, legislation and required timescales.
- Prepare reports and attend departmental meetings, LAC Reviews, Child Protection Case Conferences, legal meetings, permanence planning meetings and court hearings as required.
- Work directly with children, young people, families, foster carers and permanent alternative carers to ensure the best interests of children are met.
- Manage financial arrangements associated with allocated cases.
- Ensure all statutory and professional requirements are met in accordance with relevant legislation, Department of Health guidance and national standards for adoption, foster care and residential care.
