Our client in Devon County Council is looking for an Experienced Social Worker to safeguard children, young people and adults at risk, managing complex cases and delivering strengths-based, outcome-focused social work practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Safeguard children, young people and adults at risk, ensuring their wellbeing and safety remain central to practice.
- Apply a strengths-based, inclusive, anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive approach to social work practice.
- Gather, analyse and evaluate information from service users, informal networks and partner agencies to complete holistic assessments of needs, risks and protective factors.
- Develop and implement outcome-focused plans with clear aims and objectives, while effectively managing risk.
- Maintain accurate, concise and up-to-date case records and use relevant IT systems in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Manage a complex caseload, prioritising tasks effectively, working to required timescales and meeting national and local performance expectations.
- Develop strong working relationships with colleagues, professionals and partner agencies to support an integrated and multi-disciplinary approach.
- Make appropriate referrals and ensure effective communication with relevant agencies to promote positive outcomes.
- Convene and chair multi-disciplinary meetings, including meetings where challenge or conflict may arise or where evidence may contribute to legal proceedings.
- Share relevant information with partner agencies to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk.
- Apply relevant legislation, statutory frameworks, policies and professional guidance to inform social work practice and professional decision-making.
- Keep up to date with relevant research, legislative changes and developments in social work practice.
- Take responsibility for ongoing professional development through supervision, appraisal and continuous learning, maintaining the requirements of Social Work England registration.
- Provide professional advice, mentoring and support to colleagues, including less experienced social workers and social care staff.
- Support the teaching and assessment of social work students and Newly Qualified Social Workers undertaking practice learning in Devon.
- Participate flexibly in wider team duties and activities as required by the line manager or supervisor.
- Undertake specific work relating to customer feedback, complaints, multi-agency projects and service developments, making recommendations and implementing action plans where required.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of social work services.
