Fundraising Business Development Manager | South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire

Tempest Charities are recruiting for a Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in securing vital support from across the corporate community. This will be in the form of corporate philanthropy partnerships and strategically identified Gift-in-Kind support. You will also be managing the Fundraising Officer and Fundraising Assistant. You'll be tasked with distilling complex information into compelling narratives that effectively convey our mission and objectives while aligning with a corporate partner's CSR and ESG strategy. The job is based near BS35.

2026 is a transition year for them. From January to June, they are still in campaign mode, and from July to December, they are in post-opening, operational mode. The total 2026 income this role is responsible for is in the region of £500k, whilst also supporting Gift In Kind income in the region of £615k. The budgeted breakdown of the income is as follows:

Jan-July (Six months Pre-opening): In the region of £870k across Corporate (£222k), Events (£20k), Community fundraising (£12k) and Gift-in-Kind support (£615k)

July - December (Six months Post-opening): In the region £193k across Corporate (£150k), Events (£43k)

This position is ideal for someone with proven experience in delivering the above, and especially those with New Business Development experience. The main focus is the ability to develop and nurture meaningful relationships from businesses in the community that can translate into tangible impact for the families they support.

Key Responsibilities

Income & Partnerships

  • Identify, engage and win corporate partnerships to help deliver the centre's mission across the short, medium and long term
  • To develop a fully researched and engaged prospect pipeline of five, six and seven-figure prospects
  • To play a key role in maximising income from existing commercial partnerships and relationships, with high-quality proactive support and development

Team Management

  • Direct line management and support in the development of two colleagues, Fundraising Officer and Fundraising Assistant, who between them steward our corporate partners, oversee a small events calendar, manage our community donors and groups, conduct prospect research and support team admin

Commercial Awareness

  • To work collaboratively with colleagues to maximise the potential value of corporate support through Gift in Kind

Reporting

  • To monitor and evaluate income against the budget, taking corrective action as required
  • Ensure that their database and supporter information systems are updated regularly.
  • Ensure that their supporters are kept up to date with their progress and impact

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience of researching and engaging with key decision makers within a corporate environment
  • Line management experience
  • Proven success in delivering five, six and seven-figure relationships
  • Experience in account management or partnership management within a charity or the private sector
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage a varied and competing workload using initiative and creativity to problem solve and deliver success
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability in accurate financial record keeping and assimilating and presenting data in a clear and accessible format
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of how different sectors and organisations might want to engage with a charity

Desirable

  • Experience in securing Gift-in-Kind support
