Higher Level Teaching Assistant | Skelmersdale, Lancashire

We are working with a supportive and inclusive primary school in Skelmersdale that is seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled professional to play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, including delivering lessons and leading small group interventions.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and senior leaders to help raise standards, support pupils' academic and personal development, and contribute to a positive school environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver lessons and cover classes when required, under the guidance of senior staff.

  • Lead small group and 1:1 interventions to support pupil progress.

  • Assist teachers in planning, preparing, and adapting resources for lessons.

  • Support pupils with additional needs to ensure full inclusion.

  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupils' social and emotional development.

  • Help create and maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.


Requirements

  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification is essential.

  • Previous experience working as a HLTA or experienced TA in a school setting.

  • Confidence in delivering lessons and supporting whole-class learning.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A proactive, patient, and supportive approach.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
