Higher Level Teaching Assistant | Wigan, Greater Manchester

The Opportunity

We are supporting a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Wigan that is looking to appoint a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA). This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner to take on additional responsibilities, including delivering lessons, supporting whole-class learning, and leading small group interventions.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and school leaders to help raise standards, promote positive behaviour, and ensure that all pupils are supported to reach their full potential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver lessons and cover classes when required, under the direction of senior staff.

  • Lead small group interventions and provide targeted 1:1 support.

  • Assist teachers in planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons.

  • Support pupils with additional needs to ensure full inclusion.

  • Promote positive behaviour and contribute to pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.

  • Contribute to the creation of a safe, stimulating, and supportive learning environment.


Requirements

  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification is essential.

  • Previous experience working as a HLTA or experienced Teaching Assistant in a school setting.

  • Confidence in delivering lessons and supporting whole-class teaching.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A proactive, patient, and supportive approach.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
