£100-£130 per day | Full-time | Temp-to-Perm Opportunity
We are working with a specialist SEND school in Bolton to recruit an experienced Motor Vehicle / Mechanics Instructor to deliver practical, vocational learning to small classes of pupils with EHCPs, primarily for Autism (ASC) and SEMH needs.
Classes are small (no more than 8 students), allowing for a focused, relationship-based approach. Pupils can present with challenging behaviour, so the successful candidate must be calm, resilient, and confident in managing behaviour positively.
This is a full-time role, initially on supply for 12 weeks, with a strong opportunity to become permanent (or extend on supply if preferred, at the school's request).
The Role Will Involve:
Delivering practical motor vehicle / mechanics sessions in a workshop-style environment
Adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs and EHCP targets
Supporting pupils to develop vocational skills, confidence, and engagement
Managing behaviour using clear boundaries, structure, and consistency
Working closely with support staff to ensure safe, well-supervised sessions
Encouraging positive choices, teamwork, and employability skills
Maintaining a safe working environment and following health & safety procedures
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Strong knowledge or hands-on experience in motor vehicle mechanics
School-based experience or experience working with young people in SEND, SEMH, AP, PRU, or similar settings
Confidence working with pupils with Autism and SEMH needs
A calm, firm, and resilient approach to challenging behaviour
A DBS on the Update Service (essential)
A genuine interest in supporting vulnerable learners through vocational education
Teaching qualifications are not essential - candidates with strong industry experience and the right attitude are encouraged to apply.
