Facilities Manager - School Environment

We are currently recruiting experienced Facilities Managers for confirmed roles in school settings across South East London, with start dates from September 2025.

These are excellent opportunities for facilities professionals with a background in education or similar environments who are ready to take ownership of site safety, maintenance, and compliance from day one.


About the Role

As a Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for the effective day-to-day running of the school site. This includes ensuring the premises are secure, well maintained, and fully compliant with health and safety standards. You will also support or oversee site teams, liaise with external contractors, and be the key point of contact for all facilities-related matters.


Key Responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for the safety, security, and operational readiness of the school premises

  • Keyholding duties including opening/locking the site and responding to alarms

  • Carrying out and coordinating general maintenance, minor repairs, and DIY tasks

  • Ensuring full compliance with health and safety legislation (COSHH, Fire Safety, risk assessments, Legionella)

  • Supervising premises staff and managing external contractors

  • Maintaining records and using IT systems for compliance tracking and reporting

  • Conducting regular site inspections and managing cleaning and waste services

  • Supporting the school's operational needs during term time and holidays


Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience as a Facilities Manager, Site Manager, or Estates Manager in a school or similar setting

  • Strong working knowledge of H&S compliance including Fire Safety, COSHH, and risk management

  • Hands-on approach to maintenance and problem-solving

  • Confident managing site staff or contractors and delegating tasks

  • Proficient in using IT systems for compliance logs, incident reporting, and task scheduling

  • IOSH or similar H&S qualification preferred
