About the Role

We are seeking a caring, motivated and enthusiastic KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and inclusive primary school in Bexley. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting children in Key Stage 1 who have Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them to thrive both academically and emotionally.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to:

  • Support individual pupils (1:1) with specific learning, communication or behavioural needs
  • Assist small groups of children to access the curriculum and develop key skills
  • Help create a positive, engaging and inclusive classroom environment where every child can succeed

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support for children with a range of needs, including autism spectrum conditions, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social or emotional needs
  • Support the delivery of engaging and differentiated learning activities across KS1 subjects
  • Implement strategies and interventions outlined in children's individual education plans (IEPs) or support plans
  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour among pupils
  • Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals to ensure high-quality support for each child
  • Contribute to observations, progress reports, and review meetings

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with primary-aged children, ideally within Key Stage 1 or in an SEN role
  • Is patient, empathetic and passionate about supporting children with additional needs
  • Can build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff and parents
  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2/3 or equivalent) - desirable but not essential
  • Has good communication and organisational skills and enjoys working as part of a supportive team

What We Offer

  • A warm, inclusive and supportive school community
  • Opportunities for professional development and SEN-specific training
  • A collaborative and dedicated team who put children at the heart of everything they do
  • The chance to make a real difference in the lives of children every day
