SEN Teaching Assistant
About the Role
We are seeking a caring, committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and inclusive primary school in Lewisham. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), supporting their learning and personal development in a nurturing environment.
As part of our dedicated support team, you will work with:
- Small groups of pupils who require additional learning support
- Individual children (1:1) with specific educational, social or emotional needs
Your role will involve assisting the class teacher, adapting learning materials, and helping to create a positive and engaging classroom environment where every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide targeted support for children with a range of special educational needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, social and emotional needs)
- Assist the class teacher with the planning and delivery of differentiated lessons and activities
- Support children's social and emotional development, helping them to build confidence and independence
- Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to implement individual education plans (IEPs)
- Contribute to a safe, caring and stimulating learning environment
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children with SEN in a school or similar setting
- Is patient, empathetic, and passionate about inclusive education
- Can work collaboratively as part of a team and use their initiative
- Holds relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) - desirable but not essential
- Has good communication and organisational skills
