Our client in Southampton City Council is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Social Worker to join their Young People's Service (YPS).
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner to take a lead role in supporting adolescents experiencing complex risks, including exploitation, offending behaviour and harm outside of the home, while also contributing to high-quality practice across the wider team.
The Role
As a Senior Social Worker, you will:
Manage a caseload of complex and high-risk cases.
Undertake robust assessments and develop effective plans to reduce risk and promote long-term safety and stability.
Work with young people who may be resistant to engagement, using strong relational and direct-work skills to build trust and encourage positive change.
Act as a practice leader, modelling high-quality social work and supporting colleagues with complex decision-making.
Provide informal mentoring and guidance to newly qualified social workers, students and other practitioners.
Work closely with partner agencies including police, education, youth services and community organisations.
Contribute to strategy discussions and planning processes to ensure coordinated safeguarding responses.
Maintain high standards of recording, assessment and care planning, ensuring work meets statutory requirements.
Contribute to improving team performance and promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
