Our client in Staffordshire is looking for an experienced Social Worker to join their Children's Social Care service.
This is an opportunity to work alongside children, young people and families, supporting them to achieve positive outcomes while ensuring their safety and wellbeing remains at the heart of practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of children and young people, prioritizing work in line with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- Undertake high-quality assessments and develop effective plans to support the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
- Carry out direct work with children, young people, families and carers, providing both high support and high challenge.
- Embrace a restorative approach to practice, supporting families to identify their own solutions and develop plans to keep children safe.
- Ensure Family Group Conferences and Family Meetings are offered to families as part of assessment and care planning.
- Assess and manage risks to children and young people, working alongside families, their networks and other professionals to develop effective safety plans.
- Plan, implement and monitor interventions to ensure agreed outcomes for children and families are achieved.
- Regularly review the circumstances of children and families and adapt plans where required, working in partnership with service users and other agencies.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across Children's Social Care and external partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for vulnerable children.
- Where assessed as safe and appropriate, support the de-escalation of plans and reunification of children with their families, ensuring appropriate support packages are in place.
- Prepare high-quality and timely assessments and reports for Court proceedings, Child Protection Conferences, Statutory Reviews and other relevant forums.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in accordance with Directorate policies and the Integrated Children's System.
- Participate in regular supervision and consultation with the Team Manager, ensuring significant issues and risks are appropriately escalated.
- Contribute to the achievement of individual, team and service performance targets.
- Develop effective working relationships with colleagues, partner agencies and other professionals involved in supporting children and families.
- Contribute to service development, new initiatives and policy implementation within the Directorate.
- Maintain a commitment to continuous professional development in line with Social Work England professional standards.
- Provide support and supervision to social work students and non-social-work qualified colleagues when required.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grading and nature of the role.
