Senior Practitioner Duty and Assessment Team | Stoke-on-Trent

Our client in Stoke-on-Trent is looking for an experienced Social Worker to join their Children's Social Care service.

This role offers an opportunity to work directly with children, young people and their families, ensuring their voices are heard and their welfare remains at the heart of all decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure children, young people and their families are fully involved in the assessment and care planning process, ensuring their views, wishes and feelings are appropriately considered.
  • Work in accordance with the agreed practice standards and expectations of the service.
  • Maintain Social Work England registration and re-registration requirements, adhering to professional practice standards.
  • Support families to keep their children safe and, where this is not possible, take appropriate action to safeguard children and young people.
  • Safeguard and promote the health, wellbeing and welfare of children and young people across Stoke-on-Trent.
  • Work directly with children, young people, families and carers in line with your experience, skills and professional knowledge.
  • Undertake complex casework, using professional judgement to assess needs, manage risks and determine appropriate interventions.
  • Ensure the department's and local authority's resources are used efficiently and effectively.
  • Demonstrate effective time management and respond flexibly to the changing needs and priorities of the service.
  • Ensure the welfare of the child or young person remains paramount in all aspects of your work and decision-making.
  • Follow all departmental health and safety procedures and standards when carrying out your duties.
  • Provide appropriate support and cover to the Principal Manager when required.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to ensure children, young people and families receive appropriate support and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grading and nature of the role.
