Senior Social Worker Duty and Assessment Team | Staffordshire

Our client in Staffordshire is looking for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Children's Services team. This role offers an opportunity to provide strong practice leadership, support social workers and contribute to positive outcomes for children and families, while taking on additional responsibilities including coaching, mentoring and deputising for the Team Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day line management and coordination of Personal Assistant (PA) support to social workers, with professional advice and guidance from the Business Administrative Lead.
  • Promote and ensure that Family Group Conferences and family meetings are offered to all allocated families as part of the assessment and planning process.
  • Promote high-quality social work practice, with a strong focus on achieving positive and sustainable outcomes for children and families.
  • Prepare high-quality and timely assessments and reports for court proceedings, Child Protection Case Conferences, statutory reviews, and other relevant forums.
  • Plan, undertake, and monitor activities for individual children and families, ensuring outcomes are aspirational and achieved in partnership with relevant agencies.
  • Regularly review children's and families circumstances and use the outcomes to develop and update plans in partnership with families and other professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in accordance with Directorate policies and procedures and the Integrated Children's System.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with families, professionals, and partner agencies to support safe plans that enable children to remain within their home environment wherever appropriate or support effective rehabilitation home.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new initiatives, policies, and service improvements across the Directorate.
  • Work in accordance with professional social work ethics, the BASW Code of Ethics, and Social Work England standards.
  • Support the Team Manager with staff and team development, including coaching and mentoring social workers, social work students, and non-social work staff.
  • Deputise for the Team Manager in their absence, taking responsibility for the effective management and coordination of the team as required.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and responsibilities of the role.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to work at other locations across the district when required.
