Our client in Staffordshire is looking for an experienced Social Worker to join their Children's Social Care Service. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of children and young people, undertaking assessments, managing risk, and working collaboratively with families and professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake a range of social work interventions as allocated by the Team Manager, including the assessment and management of risks to children and young people.
- Use a restorative approach to practice, supporting families to develop their own plans to keep children safe where this is assessed as appropriate.
- Manage a caseload of children and young people, prioritising work in accordance with Directorate policies, procedures, relevant legislation, and available resources.
- Ensure Family Group Conferences and Family Meetings are offered to families as part of the assessment and planning process.
- Undertake direct work with children, young people, families, and carers, providing both high support and appropriate challenge.
- Work collaboratively with families to identify solutions to challenges and develop safe family-led plans where appropriate.
- Ensure all assessments, interventions, and casework are completed within required national and local timescales.
- Plan, undertake, and monitor activities for individual children and families, working alongside other agencies to achieve agreed outcomes.
- Regularly review children's and families' circumstances and use these reviews to develop and update plans in partnership with service users and other professionals.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in accordance with Directorate policies and procedures and the Integrated Children's System.
- Participate in regular supervision and consultation with the Team Manager, ensuring significant issues relating to children and families are promptly communicated.
- Prepare high-quality and timely assessments and reports for court proceedings, Child Protection Case Conferences, statutory reviews, and other forums as required.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Directorate and external partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for vulnerable children.
- As assessed as safe and appropriate, support the de-escalation of plans and facilitate the reunification of children with their families, including the development of appropriate support packages.
