Social Worker - Children Support and Safeguarding | Northamptonshire

Our client, Northampton-shire Children's Trust, is seeking an experienced Social Worker to provide high-quality social work services to children, young people, and families, ensuring their welfare is safeguarded and their needs are effectively supported.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Children's Social Worker with experience managing complex caseloads, undertaking assessments, safeguarding children, and working within multi-agency environments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong professional judgement, effective communication skills, and a commitment to achieving positive outcomes while keeping the best interests of children and young people at the centre of their practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a complex caseload, undertaking comprehensive assessments and developing appropriate support and care plans.
  • Visit children, young people, families, and carers to assess needs, monitor progress, and deliver purposeful interventions.
  • Assess and manage risks to the health, safety, and well-being of children and young people, taking appropriate safeguarding action where required.
  • Work directly with families to provide advice, guidance, and practical support while promoting independence, resilience, and self-sufficiency.
  • Coordinate packages of support and ensure interventions are regularly monitored and reviewed in response to changing needs.
  • Work closely with partner agencies and professionals, taking the lead where appropriate to ensure coordinated and effective support.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings, reviews, and care planning processes to assess needs and agree appropriate interventions.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive case records and reports in line with statutory, legislative, and departmental requirements.
  • Prepare and provide written and verbal evidence for court proceedings, adoption and fostering panels, and other formal decision-making processes.
  • Implement court-directed actions within required timescales, including arrangements to safeguard children and secure appropriate care or placements where necessary.
  • Ensure the wishes, feelings, and best interests of children and young people remain central to assessment, planning, and decision-making.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusive practice while recognising the individual needs and circumstances of children and families.
  • Contribute to the development of colleagues through mentoring, work-shadowing, and opportunities to support professional learning and development.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to service improvement and best practice.
