Our client in Cambridgeshire County Council is seeking an experienced Children's Social Worker to join their Children's Services team. The successful candidate will manage a varied and complex caseload, working with children and families across Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP) and Children in Care (CIC) services.
The role will involve statutory social work, safeguarding, court work and multi-agency collaboration, with a strong focus on assessing and managing risk and achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete statutory visits and assessments for children subject to CIN, CP and CIC plans.
- Manage an allocated caseload involving Child in Need, Child Protection and Children in Care cases.
- Chair and contribute to CIN meetings and Core Group meetings, ensuring plans are clear, outcome-focused and progressed effectively.
- Manage cases involving Public Law Outline (PLO) and Section 31 Care Proceedings where required.
- Complete high-quality court reports, risk assessments and parenting assessments.
- Attend court hearings, with support from a Senior Practitioner or Team Manager where required.
- Attend and contribute to Initial and Review Child Protection Conferences (ICPCs and RCPCs) and prepare conference reports.
- Participate in the duty rota, responding to new referrals, safeguarding concerns and urgent situations.
- Assess, monitor and manage risk, taking appropriate action to safeguard children and promote their welfare.
- Work collaboratively with families, carers, schools, health professionals and other partner agencies.
- Ensure accurate and timely case recording and compliance with statutory requirements and timescales.
- Promote child-centred, strengths-based practice, ensuring children's wishes and feelings remain central to decision-making.
