Building Surveyor

Location: Dorchester, Dorset
Contract: Temporary (3-6 months)
Rate: £400-£500 per day (DOE)
Hours: 37 hours per week

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Building Surveyor to join a Local Authority team supporting a diverse property portfolio across Dorset.

This is a hands-on role focused on delivering maintenance, compliance, and capital works projects, ensuring properties are safe, compliant, and maintained to a high standard.

This opportunity would suit a proactive and experienced Surveyor who is confident managing projects, contractors, and stakeholders within a public sector or housing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver planned and reactive maintenance programmes
• Ensure compliance and safety across property assets
• Manage capital repair and refurbishment projects
• Oversee contractors and project delivery
• Manage budgets, procurement, and contracts
• Maintain accurate property and performance data
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners

Requirements

We are looking for candidates with:

• Experience working as a Building Surveyor or similar role
• Strong experience delivering repairs, maintenance, or capital works programmes
• Experience managing contractors, budgets, and procurement processes
• Good knowledge of property compliance and maintenance standards
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience working within a Local Authority, housing, or public sector environment (desirable)
• Relevant qualification (degree or equivalent in Building Surveying or related field)
