Building Surveyor
Location: Dorchester, Dorset
Contract: Temporary (3-6 months)
Rate: £400-£500 per day (DOE)
Hours: 37 hours per week
The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Building Surveyor to join a Local Authority team supporting a diverse property portfolio across Dorset.
This is a hands-on role focused on delivering maintenance, compliance, and capital works projects, ensuring properties are safe, compliant, and maintained to a high standard.
This opportunity would suit a proactive and experienced Surveyor who is confident managing projects, contractors, and stakeholders within a public sector or housing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned and reactive maintenance programmes
- Ensure compliance and safety across property assets
- Manage capital repair and refurbishment projects
- Oversee contractors and project delivery
- Manage budgets, procurement, and contracts
- Maintain accurate property and performance data
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners
Requirements
We are looking for candidates with:
- Experience working as a Building Surveyor or similar role
- Strong experience delivering repairs, maintenance, or capital works programmes
- Experience managing contractors, budgets, and procurement processes
- Good knowledge of property compliance and maintenance standards
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working within a Local Authority, housing, or public sector environment (desirable)
- Relevant qualification (degree or equivalent in Building Surveying or related field)
