Our client in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council is looking for an experienced social work manager to oversee the delivery of their Looked After Children Service.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall accountability for the management of cases and referrals within the Looked After Children Service.
- Allocate cases and referrals appropriately, monitoring and reviewing team performance through regular audits in line with quality standards, performance requirements and Council procedures.
- Manage delegated budgets, ensuring resources are used efficiently and effectively.
- Support the induction of new staff in accordance with Council policies, procedures and professional standards.
- Identify staff development and training needs, ensuring the workforce has the skills and knowledge required to undertake their roles effectively.
- Assist with the delivery of in-house training and support the placement and development of Social Work students and students from other professional disciplines.
- Ensure staff performance, achievement and development reviews are completed in line with Council requirements.
- Monitor cases and referrals to ensure they are progressed appropriately and in accordance with national minimum standards.
- Provide regular professional supervision, guidance and support to team members in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Convene and chair meetings and professional forums as required by senior management.
- Manage performance and conduct matters, including competency, disciplinary and attendance issues, in accordance with Council policies and procedures.
- Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff, ensuring processes are carried out in line with Council policies, procedures and standards.
- Ensure management information is accurately collected, collated and maintained, supporting effective reporting and the proper operation of management systems.
