At Tempest Resourcing, we are proud to work with a wide range of schools and education providers across the UK, supporting them in delivering high-quality learning environments for children and young people.

As part of this, we regularly highlight innovative approaches and developments across our partner schools. In this feature, we are pleased to spotlight St John Rigby Catholic Primary School, who are launching a brand-new nursery provision this September.

A New Early Years Provision

Responding to growing demand for high-quality early years education, St John Rigby is opening an Early Years Unit designed for children aged 3–5.

With an initial intake of 15 places, the setting will offer a small, nurturing environment where children can develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning from an early age.

A Distinctive Approach: The Rigby Way

What sets this provision apart is its focus on what the school describes as “The Rigby Way” an approach centred around exploratory, child-led learning supported by qualified teaching input.

Children will benefit from:

  • Exploratory learning zones designed to encourage curiosity and engagement
  • Qualified teacher input, ensuring high-quality early education from the outset
  • A balance between structured learning and creative discovery
  • A supportive, inclusive environment where every child is known and valued

Supporting a Smooth Transition into School

A key advantage of school-based nursery provision is the ability to support a seamless transition into Reception and beyond.

By becoming familiar with the school environment, routines, and staff from an early age, children are better prepared, both socially and academically, for the next stage of their education.

Meeting Local Demand

With limited school-based nursery provision in the local area, this new offering is well positioned to support:

  • Local families
  • Working parents
  • Those connected to nearby hospitals and universities

The introduction of the nursery also reflects a broader challenge many schools face — maintaining pupil numbers and strengthening early engagement with families.

A Positive Step for Early Years Education

The launch of this Early Years Unit represents a positive step in expanding access to high-quality early education within the community.

At Tempest Resourcing, we are always encouraged to see schools investing in innovative ways to support children’s development from the earliest stages.

The nursery is set to open this September, with limited places available.
