In this feature, we are pleased to spotlight St John Rigby Catholic Primary School, who are launching a brand-new nursery provision this September.
A New Early Years Provision
Responding to growing demand for high-quality early years education, St John Rigby is opening a new preschool, Little Rigby’s, designed for children aged 3–5.
With an initial intake of 15 places, the setting will offer a small, nurturing environment where children can develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning from an early age.

What sets this provision apart is its focus on what the school describes as “The Rigby Way” an approach centred around exploratory, child-led learning supported by qualified teaching input.
Children will benefit from:

Supporting a Smooth Transition into School
A key advantage of school-based nursery provision is the ability to support a seamless transition into Reception and beyond.
By becoming familiar with the school environment, routines, and staff from an early age, children are better prepared, both socially and academically, for the next stage of their education.
Supporting Families with Wrap Around Care
In addition to its strong educational offering, Little Rigby’s will provide wrap around care for all preschool pupils, supporting busy families and working parents.
This includes:
- Breakfast Club from 7:30am
- Afterschool Club running until 6:00pm
This extended provision ensures children are cared for in a consistent, familiar environment throughout the day.
