Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant / SEN Teacher to join our inclusive primary school in Barnet. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting children with a range of special educational needs (SEN), ensuring they have access to high-quality learning opportunities and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
For SEN Teacher
Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with SEN.
Work closely with the SENCO to implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Assess pupil progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to support holistic development.
Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment.
Contribute to whole-school initiatives and professional development.
For SEN Teaching Assistant
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN.
Assist the class teacher in delivering inclusive lessons.
Implement intervention programmes and support learning plans.
Help manage behaviour and encourage positive social interactions.
Support with personal care needs where required.
Monitor pupil progress and feedback to teachers and SENCO.
Candidate Requirements
SEN Teacher
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Experience teaching pupils with SEN in a primary setting.
Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and differentiation strategies.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Empathy, patience, and resilience.
SEN Teaching Assistant
Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience).
Previous experience supporting children with SEN.
Good literacy and numeracy skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
Enthusiasm for helping children achieve their potential.
Salary Expectations
SEN Teaching Assistant (TA): £22,349 - £28,161 per year (depending on experience and pay scale).
SEN Teacher: £30,000 - £45,000 per year (depending on experience and qualifications).
