1:1 SEN Tutor - English & Maths (NE5)
- Location: Newcastle (Local Library)
- Pay: £30 per hour
- Hours: 10 hours per week (Monday-Friday, 2 hours per day)
- Schedule: During school hours (Term-time)
The Role
We are looking for a reliable and down-to-earth tutor to support a Year 8 student living in the NE5 area.
This student is currently working below age-related expectations and requires consistent, specialized support to bridge gaps in English and Maths. Due to their SEN needs, they require an educator who can strip back the curriculum and rebuild their confidence in a calm, neutral environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Targeted Tuition: Delivering 2-hour daily sessions focusing on foundational literacy and numeracy.
Creative Adaptation: Breaking down complex concepts into manageable, engaging tasks tailored to the student's specific learning pace.
Environment Management: Meeting the student at their local library to provide a structured yet low-pressure learning space.
Building Rapport: Establishing a safe, trusting relationship to help the student overcome barriers to learning.
Progress Tracking: Monitoring small wins and adapting your approach to ensure the student feels a sense of achievement every day.
Schedule & Compensation
Hours: 10 hours per week, ideally spread across Monday to Friday (2 hours per day).
Timing: Sessions take place during school hours, providing an excellent work-life balance.
Rate: £30 per hour.
Why apply?
At £30 per hour, this is a great role for a retired teacher, a high-level TA, or a tutor who wants to make a genuine impact without the paperwork of a full classroom. You get your afternoons/mornings back, no weekend work, and the chance to see a student actually progress because of your 1:1 attention.
